| FedEx Ski Club |
| The FedEx Ski Club is the
ski club of all the FedEx companies world wide. While our members were
all originally from what is now FedEx Express, many of them have now
made their way to the other FedEx companies. Our membership base is
worldwide in nature. We have members in Germany, Italy, France, to name
a few of the countries in Europe we have members in. We cover most of
the European Union. We also have members from down under and Asia. Throw
in the U.S. and Canada and we pretty much cover the world. Anyone who
is an employee of a FedEx company is eligible for membership in the
FedEx Ski Club. For membership information see the "how to be a
member section". So what does the FedEx Ski Club do? We have four
ski trips a year. Three of them are to various major resorts in North
America. The forth trip is to the international airlines ski championships.
That trip could be anywhere in the ski world. Past hosts have been the
U.S., Canada, Germany, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Japan. Each trip
is a week in length. The week begins with hitting the slopes on Sunday
and ends with the Thursday night party. Four of the ski weeks are put
on by NAASF(North America Airlines Ski Federation) and the international
ski championships are put on by the IASF(International Airlines Ski
Federation). All the major airlines of North America belong to NAASF
and attend the NAASF ski weeks. Most of the major airlines of the world
belong to the IASF and attend the World Airlines Ski Championships(WASC).
Your day basically consists of skiing the day away. At the end of the
ski day, you hit Apre Ski or head back for a hot tub or just relax.
You then get ready for dinner, with old or new friends. After dinner
you head to the party that is being thrown that night. It could be a
theme party being thrown by the federation or a team party. After the
party(which runs to about 1:00am), if you are still in the party mode,
the party animals check out the night life or continue the party at
someone's room or condo. The other activity that is prime during the
week is the ski team races. Two days of racing take place during the
week. The FedEx Ski Team is the racing arm of the FedEx Ski Club. All
members of the ski club are eligible to be a member of the ski team.
There are actually two ski teams. The "A" team and the "B"
team. The difference between the two teams is the difficulty level of
the race course and the skill level of the skier. For those who are
new to racing there is a beginner’s race. The team captain determines
racer placement on the teams. Both male and female teams at both levels
compete in the races. |
